Interclub Billiards.

Close matches were the highlight of last week, three matches were decided by a single point and a fourth by just two points.

RSL White player Dennis Collins, kept his great season alive, beating Raider’s Barry Glover by one point, Black’s Terry Adams gave Devils player, Heath Rainbow, 100 points start and got to the lead only to see Rainbow come back to win the match by the barest margin. Exeter’s Rex Swain came from well back to pip Red’s Philip Rowbottom and Red’s Peter Seaman, who won by one point two weeks ago, came from behind to beat Exeter’s Adam Bindoff by two points.

Launceston RSL White has taken top spot on the Northern Billiards Interclub competition, needing only a draw against Works Raiders as the Works Black team fell victim to The Flaming Devils losing 1-3.

Devils players to win were, Josh Rainbow, Roydyn Bishop and Heath Rainbow, Andrew Saltmarsh scored for Works Black.

Dennis Collins and Adrian White won for Launceston RSL White, Harley Stebbings and Alan Armitage won for The Raiders.

Works Green drew 2-2 with Works Blue, Cor Zoon and Rowhan Phelps won for Green, For Blue, Graeme Pickett gave 340 start but proved too strong, and Ethan Brown were the winners.

Works Red drew with Exeter Social Club, Peter Seaman and Steve Andjelkovic won for Red, Rex Swain and Chris Reid were Exeter’s winners.

Works Navy also drew 2-2 with Works Gold, Ben Conrades and John Fordham won for Navy, Rolf Stevenson and John Fraser were Gold’s winners.

Ladder after round 10: RSL White 36, Works Black 35, Raiders 34, Devils 33, Works Gold 32, Works Blue 32, Works Navy 30  Works Green 29, Works Red 24, Exeter Social Club 18.

Best breaks: Graeme Pickett 67, David Bates 63, Rex Swain 43, Adrian White 38, Gary Bakker 27, Keith Coomber 25, Glen Johansen 20, Michael Leslie 20.

Leading Players: Lionel Young continues to lead in the player stats, winning 6 matches from 7 played, 85.71%, followed by Dennis Collins 7 wins from 9 matches played 77.77%. Others, Ben Conrades 6 from 8, Heath Rainbow 7 from 10,  John Saggers has won all 4 matches played, Ethan Brown, Scott Kopriva and Zane Brown have 4 wins from 5 played, however these four players are yet to play enough matches to qualify.

The Flaming Devils 3 defeated Works Black 1, Heath Rainbow (270) defeated Terry Adams (170), Roydyn Bishop (135) defeated David Bates (-110) , Josh Rainbow (285) defeated Bruce Lockley (195), Andrew Rainbow (275) lost to Andrew Saltmarsh (220).

Works Green 2 drew with Works Blue 2, Corr Zoon (305) defeated Michael Leslie (235), Glen Johansen (265) lost to Ethan Brown (295), Dean Wilson (250) lost to Graem(220), Pickett (-90), Rowan Phelps (285) defeated Hans Georgieff (250).             

Launceston RSL White 2 drew with Works Raiders 2, Wayne Purdon (245) lost to Alan Armitage (250), Greg Williams (265) lost to Harley Stebbings (215), Dennis Collins (300) defeated Barry Glover (245), Adrian White (165) defeated Keith Coomber (160).

Works Red 2 drew with Exeter Social Club 2, Peter Seaman (305) defeated Adam Bindoff (295), Steve Andjelkovic (280) defeated Gary Bakker (245), Phil Rowbottom (280) lost to Rex Swain (205), Bob Cain (295) lost to Chris Reid (280).

Works Navy 2 drew with Works Gold 2, Ben Conrades (295) defeated Steve Leary (245), Ray Skinner (265) lost to John Fraser (200), Alan Legg (285) lost to Rolf Stevenson (255), John Fordham (275) easily defeated Gary Bjarnoe Elliott (175).

There are no matches this week as the competition has a break over Christmas, returning on Wednesday 11th. January and Thursday 12th. January.

Interclub Billiards.

David Bates of Works Black put his skills on show last week, scoring three century breaks to completely outclass veteran Works Blue player, Michael Leslie. Bates scored 505 points to Leslie’s 38 in a very one sided match, on the way to a 4-0 rout by the Black team.

Graeme Pickett made breaks of 97, 59 and 48 but fell 18 points short in his match against Black’s Terry Adams. Andrew Saltmarsh and Bruce Lockley also won for Works Black.

Works Raiders also scored a 4-0 win over Works Green, Keith Coomber, Alan Armitage, Harley Stebbings and Lionel Young all winning for the Raiders.

Launceston RSL White defeated Exeter 3-1, Adrian White won a very close match against newcomer William Cameron, getting home by 4 points, Greg Williams and Dennis Collins also won for RSL White, Adam Bindoff scored for Exeter.

Works Red defeated Works Gold 3-1, Peter Seaman, Phil Rowbottom and Bob Cain won for Red, John Saggers was Gold’s only winner, scraping in by just 4 points.

Works Navy and the Devils had a 2-2 draw, the close match of the round was between Navy’s Ben Conrades and Roydyn Bishop, Bishop gave a 270 point start but failed by the barest margin to get over Conrades. Ray Skinner also won for Navy, Josh and Heath Rainbow both won for the Devils.
