Devils turn up the heat on Exeter

THE Flaming Devils whitewashed the Exeter Social Club team on Thursday night, in their Northern billiards clash.

The Devils were led by wins to the three Rainbows - Heath, Josh and Andrew - along with Roydyn Bishop, scoring 4-0, to take the team from bottom to sixth on the ladder.

In other matches Works Gold moved to equal top after defeating Raiders, 3-1. Rolf Stevenson, John Fraser and Steve Leary won for Gold, while Harley Stebbings was the only winner for the Raiders.

Works Black beat Works Red, 3-1. Andrew Saltmarsh and Bruce Lockley, who both played in the national eightball championships in Sydney last week, got back to winning billiards. Bob Cain, with the aid of a 390-point start, kept his early season form going, beating David Bates.

Works Blue defeated Works Navy 3-1. Michael Leslie, Hans Georgieff and Graeme Pickett, conceding 345-point starts, scored for Blue, while Ben Conrades won his match for Navy.

Launceston RSL White held ladder-leader Works Green to a draw. Dennis Collins and Wayne Purdon won for the White team, and George Zammit and Dean Wilson won for Green.

Lehman pots title

THE Shane Clark memorial shield (50 up billiards) was played at the Claremont RSL last weekend.

North-West's Geoff Lehman added his name to the shield, beating South's Steve Cowie five frames to three in the best-of-nine frame final. Lehman beat Joe Bonnici (North-West) and Cowie beat Grenville Brown (North-West) in the semi-finals.

Steve Carroll (South) beat North's Trevor Leary 5-2 in the consolation final. Carroll beat Wayne Stokes (South) and Leary beat Gerrad Wicks (North-West) in their semi- finals.

Presentation dinner
