Almost 100 guests saw White from London and also heard from the championship runner-up, Launceston's Ron Atkins.
White was 18 years old when he won the world amateur championship, and he went on to become one of the all-time greats, featuring in six world professional championships.
He may visit Tasmania next year as part of an Australian tour with current world champion Neil Robertson, of Australia.
