LAUNCESTON's Fiona Plummer has been named in the All-Australian squad to play in the eightball world championships in England next year.

Plummer, a mother of two, had 28 wins from 42 frames played to finish third in the overall standings after the Australian championships in Sydney recently.

Anthony Adams, of Hobart, has been chosen in the Australian under-21 squad.

Higgins down

TASMANIA'S Les Higgins was defeated 3-2 by former Australian champion Aaron Mahoney in their last 16 match in the Queensland Open, played at Bribie Island last weekend.

The title was won by Victorian Steve Mifsud, the 2006 IBSF world snooker champion, defeating Shaun Budd (NSW) 5-3 in the final.

Works Green clear

WORKS Green moved four points clear on top of the Northern interclub billiards roster last week after defeating Works Red 3-1.

Glen Johansen, George Zammit and Dean Wilson won for Green, while captain Phil Rowbottom was Red's only winner.

Works Blue took second spot from Works Gold, beating it 3-1. Ethan Brown, Peter Donati and Zane Brown won for Blue, John Stevenson scored for Gold.

Raiders and Devils share fourth and fifth spots, Raiders easily defeating Exeter Social Club 4-0, and Devils accounting for RSL White 3-1. Raiders players Lionel Young, Barry Glover, Keith Coomber and Harley Stebbings inflicted Exeter's second 4-0 loss in as many weeks.

Winners for the Devils were Heath Rainbow, Roydyn Bishop and Josh Rainbow. Wayne Purdon was RSL White's only winner.

Works Navy moved up to sixth spot, beating Works Black 3-1. Alan Legg, Ben Conrades and John Fordham won for Navy and Andrew Saltmarsh scored for Black.
