Bissett top of the table
THE final qualifying rounds of the state open teams competition was played at the Launceston Workers Club and the Hobart Workers Club last Saturday.
From the North, Callan Bissett topped the leader board, followed by Gerrad Wicks and Andrew Saltmarsh.
The Southern qualifiers saw Marcus Jackson on top followed by Sam Thurgood and Justin Van Diepen who has not played state eightball since 2002.
The final round for the 2011 state team will be played at the LWC on July 16 and 17 and from the 24 players competing, nine players will join Anthony Adams, as the state singles champion and already in the team, to compete in the Australian eightball championships in Sydney in October.
Reminder entries for the state masters selection trials, to be played at the HWC on July 9, close on Wednesday, July 6.
Interclub snooker
WHEN Works Gold player John Fraser drew Exeter's Adam Bindoff in last week's Thursday night match , a late night was on the cards.
Fraser prevailed 2-1 after a prolonged third frame with the black being jammed up. Exeter's Gary Bakker still leads the player rankings despite losing to Gary Bjarnoe Elliott. Ben Swain and Derek Peart were Exeter's winners.
The Raiders defeated Launceston RSL Grey 3-1, to go to equal top of the ladder, with Barry Glover, Alan Armitage and Lionel Young winning, Robin McEnnulty scored Grey's only win.
Works Black defeated Works Blue 3-1 to also be equal with the ladder leaders. Bruce Lockley, Andrew Saltmarsh and David Bates were all winners, Michael Leslie won for Blue.
In A Reserve Works Green held on to top spot with a 7-5 win against Launceston RSL White, Lee Morcom continued his good form over the last two weeks, including four straight wins in the Williams Shield, Dean Wilson and Cor Zoon were also winners for Green. Greg Williams and Wayne Purdon won two straight for White.
Green Horns beat Amber 7-5, Zane Brown was the only player to win both frames.
Works Red and Exeter RSL had a 6-6 draw. All matches were 1-1 draws.
