Saltmarsh sinks Glover to take title

ANDREW Saltmarsh has won the Northern 2011 A reserve snooker championship, beating four-time winner Barry Glover 4-0 in a one- sided final at the Launceston Workers Club over the weekend.
Saltmarsh, better known as an administrator, beat junior champion Andrew Rainbow, 4-1, in the semi-final and Lee Morcom, 3-2, in a very tense quarter-final. Glover beat Longford's Wayne Purdon, 4-1, in his semi and Heath Rainbow, 3-1, in their quarter- final.
In other quarter-final results, Andrew Rainbow beat Lionel Young, 3-2 and Wayne Purdon beat Alan Armitage 3-0.

Works put in a `golden' run to down top Raiders

IN A-grade interclub, it is down to five teams vying for the four finals spots.
Works Gold won 3-1 against top team Raiders, to be level with Works Blue on 32 points, just four points adrift of Raiders, The Devils and Works Black, all on 36 points.
Dean Wilson and Lee Morcom, normally A Reserve players, both won for Works Gold, as did Steven Leary, while Barry Glover won for the Raiders.
Second-placed Devils and third- placed Works Black played a draw
