Four score draws
Defending premier Works Green held this year's ladder leader Works Black to a draw.
For Green, Dean Wilson (275) beat John Saggers (275) and Dallas Fry beat Bruce Lockley (210).
For Black, David Bates now at -85, remained undefeated, beating Lee Morcom (235) and Andrew Saltmarsh (225) was too strong for Glen Johansen.
The Flaming Devils and Works Blue also drew, Devils players Heath Rainbow (285) won against Robin McEnnulty (190) and Roydyn Bishop (125) continued his good form, beating Hans Georgieff (260).
For Blue Peter Donati (110) beat Andrew Rainbow (270) and vetran Michael Leslie (225) had too much experience for the competition's youngest player, 13-year-old Josh Rainbow (300).
Works Gold and Works Red drew 2-2, Gold players Steven Leary (260) won against Peter Seaman (300) and John Fraser (205) outscored Keith Coomber (170).
For Red, Alan Armitage (245) beat Gary Bjarnoe Elliott (145) and Phil Rowbottom (285) beat John Stevenson (265).
Works Navy and Exeter RSL also drew. For Navy John Fordham (285) beat Adam Bindoff (280) and Phil Page won his match on forfeit. Exeter players Derek Peart (285) won against Steve Collins (275) and John Adams (310) beat Alan Legg (270).
Longford RSL had this week's bye.
Ladder after round eight (not complete) Black 27, Longford RSL 25, Flaming Devils 23, Exeter RSL 23, Gold 22, Green 18, Navy 18, Blue 17, Red 13.
David Bates continues to lead the player rankings, having won six from six, followed by six players who have won four matches from six played.
Best breaks this week, David Bates 52, 42, Peter Donati, 40, John Fraser 39, Michael Leslie 35, Roydyn Bishop 31.
UK titles
AUSTRALIAN Neil Robertson, the world snooker champion, moved into the last 16 of the UK championship with a resounding 9-1 win over Englishman Rory McLeod.
Robertson will now meet another Englishman, Andrew Higginson, who advanced to the round of 16 with a 9-7 win over fellow Englishman Peter Ebdon.
Others through at this time are Steven Lee, Graeme Dott, Steven Macguire, Mark Selby, Chinese sensation Ding Junhui and Mark Allen.

The 30 Year Anniversary for the 1980 World Amateur Snooker Championships that was held at the Albert Hall in Launceston was celebrated at the Launceston Workers Club on Saturday 6th November 2010, with special guest Ron Atkins (OAM) being honoured on his achievement of being runner-up in the World Amateur Snooker Championship event to Jimmy White and his contribution to Billiards and Snooker over his career at Local, Australian and International level
The night was attended by 80 guests from local dignitaries including the Mayor of Launceston - Mr Albert Van Zetten and his wife and several interstate guest who were involved in the 1980 Championship Event - Jimmy White also appeared live via Skype and gave a recollection of the event and Ron
