IT is with sadness that the Tasmanian snooker community marks the passing of a stalwart of the game after Hobart's Clem Hoggett succumbed to a long illness at his Berridale home on Saturday.
Hoggett, who had his 70th birthday last year, was well known for his attacking style of play.
He was runner-up to James Giannaros in the 1981 Southern Tasmanian snooker championship.
The left-hander was also a member of the 1982 Tasmanian team that scored the state's very first win against Victoria, at the Ulverstone RSL Club.
Hoggett, playing last, with the scores at four-all, played a brilliant pink to set up his black ball win against former Victorian champion Harry Andrews.
