Martin Shines
Sunny Hill player Rodney Martin has made the 2011 State Masters Team to compete at the Australian 8ball championships in Sydney from October 17th - 28th
Martin finished on top of the round robin group and went straight into the final by defeating Hobart player and former Tasmanian representative Tony Adams in the second semi final 2-1, unfortunately Martin could not go on to win the State title being defeated by another former State player in Wayne Elliott in the final 3-0
Martin will now be joined by Wayne Elliott, Tony Adams and Chris Snare in making up the 2011 masters team and will be joined by the men's team which is to be decided this weekend at the LWC and the women's team play-off on July 30th at the same venue

WORLD EIGHTBALL POOL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2011
After 18 consecutive years with the championships televised on BSKYB, there could still be a last minute agreement which will continue the proud record. However, even if the finals are not covered for Sky, the cameras will still be in
the usual television arena, preparing to "Live Stream" the latter stages of the event to the world. Support for the Eightball World Championships has increased in all sections of the game, showing continued development for the sport following the excellent 2011 European Championships in Malta which had over 300 players and supporters in attendance.

Launceston win State 'B' Grade Team Title
The 2011 State eightball 'B' grade championships was held at the Launceston Workers Club on June 11th and 12th with 6 teams competing from across the State for the title of team champions, after the round robin stage on the Sunday morning there were 4 teams who made it through to the finals, with the team from the Hobart eightball association topping the ladder and playing the NTEBA Launceston team in the second semi, the first semi was between the Devonport 8ball association and the team from the Southern Tasmanian eightball association
The second semi went down to the last frame with the Hobart team defeating Launceston 13 - 12 the first semi-final saw the STEBA defeat Devonport 13 - 9, the preliminary final saw Launceston defeat STEBA 13 - 9 and earn their spot in the Grand Final
The Grand Final saw Launceston take on the Hobart association, this was going to be a hard ask for the team from Launceston to win the final who had been defeated by the Hobart team in the round robin section and second semi-final, but they started off by winning the first set 3 - 2 and then the next set 4 - 1 before winning the last 2 sets 3 - 2 to wrap up the title of State 'B' Grade Team Champions 2011 - full results and player stats on the Eightball Tasmania web site

The 2011 J.Boag & Son Winter Roster Singles for Div 2 andf 3 was held at the LWC on Tuesday 31st May with 40 players entering across the two divisions of play
LWC player Grant Selby proved too strong for Village Inn Red player Wayne Purdon in the Div 2 final winning 3 - 0. In the Div 3 final Sunny Hill player Chris Clark defeated John Rodman from the Mowbray Hotel

The Open State Team for 2011 was decided at the Launceston Workers Club on July 16th and 17th with 24 players from the North, South and North-West competing for 9 positions to make up the 2011 State team to compete at the Australian Championships in October from the 17th - 28th
The weekend saw some old and new faces make the team, with Launceston player Andrew Saltmarsh making the team from the North, our other players finished in the following positions Troy Rudling (13th), Bruce Lockley (14th) and Alex Brooks (equal 16th)
The final team is - Anthony Adams (State Singles Champion), Justin Van Dipen (32 wins 14 Loses), Marcus Jackson 31 - 15, Trent Brooks 30 - 16, Andrew Saltmarsh 30 - 16, Andrew Triffitt 29 - 17, Dallas Nichols 28 - 18, Chris Forsyth 28 - 18, Joel Smith 27 - 19, Cale Barrett 26 - 20
