WORLD EIGHTBALL POOL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2011
After 18 consecutive years with the championships televised on BSKYB, there could still be a last minute agreement which will continue the proud record. However, even if the finals are not covered for Sky, the cameras will still be in
the usual television arena, preparing to "Live Stream" the latter stages of the event to the world. Support for the Eightball World Championships has increased in all sections of the game, showing continued development for the sport following the excellent 2011 European Championships in Malta which had over 300 players and supporters in attendance.
Details of how to obtain tickets for the World Semi-Finals held on Monday 4th July (6pm and 9pm) plus Finals day on Tuesday 5th July will be shown on www.wepf.org by the end of May. Prize monies, if televised, will be as per last year at £30,000 and if "streamed" will still be £26,000.
Australia's mens squad is one of their strongest ever at the event making them one of the favourites, whilst European Champions, Wales, will be another seeking to take the title from holders England. Wales Ladies will be strong candidates to retain their world crown but with 8 ladies teams in the championships, there are other countries who will be seeking to take their title. With 9 junior, 10 under 21's and 10 over 50's squads, 2011 looks to be the most competitive World Eightball Pool Championships ever held, our regards to all countries.
