Interclub Snooker

Launceston RSL Grey joined Raiders at the top of the A Grade ladder with a 3-1 win against Works Blue at the Launceston RSL Club, last week. Robin McEnnulty, Roydyn Bishop and David Sheppard all won 2-1 for RSL, Hans Georgieff won 2-0 for the Blue team.

Early pace setters Works Raiders remains ahead on percentage, but could only manage a 2-2 draw against Works Black, Harley Stebbings and Lionel Young continued their unbeaten run winning 2-0 for Raiders, Rodney Martin and Bruce Lockley both won 2-1 for Black.

Works Gold and Exeter Social Club also played a 2 all draw, John Fraser and Ted Mountney both won 2-0 for Gold, Gary Bakker 2-0, and Dean Wilson 2-1 were Exeter’s winners.

The Flaming Devils had last week’s bye.

Exeter Green won 7-5 against Works Amber, Steve Farquhar, returning to competition after 15 years, has had his handicap reviewed after winning 2-0 against Peter Grimes, Exeter’s Lloyd Rogers also won 2-0, Christian Waldron won 2-0 for Works Amber.

Launceston RSL White leads the ladder after round two, playing a 6-6 draw against Works Navy. Tim Donnachy and Wayne Purdon won 2-0 for RSL, Ray Skinner and Warren Hayes were Navy’s winners.

Works teams, Red and Green also played a 6-6 draw, new player Louis Wong won 2-0 for Works Red, Glen Johanson won 2-0 for Works Green

Southern Tasmanian Billiards Championship: Les Higgins has qualified for the final of the Southern Billiards Championship and will play Bob Wilson at the Claremont RSL Club on Wednesday night at 6.30pm. Higgins, who has won the event 26 times, beat Jeremy Cowie in the Quarter finals and Luke Webb in the Semi’s. Wilson, a 2 times winner, beat John Matthewson in the Quarters and Steve Carrol in his semi. Wayne Stokes and Justin Van Diepen also made the quarter finals. Higgins had the best break of 128.
