CUE SPORTS BY ANDREW SALTMARSH

Barrett leads the way against seniors

The 13-year-old joins Tasmanian singles champion Gregg Watt in the open team which also includes Sam Thurgood, Tim Wright, Chris Forsyth, Anthony Adams, Johnny Lennard, David Lee, Phil Dando and Trent Brooks.

The team will be the youngest Tasmania has ever sent to the national championships and the experience should provide building blocks for future success.

Also finalised is the state masters championships with Launceston's Bruce Lockley defeating Doug Goss, of Hobart, 3-2 in the final at the Hobart Workers Club.

Triangular shield

THE annual triangular A reserve John Hanson Shield match will be played at the Burnie Club this weekend.

The NTB&SA is sending a team of six snooker players and two billiard players to compete against a team from the South and North-West.

The Northern team consists of Andrew Saltmarsh, Adrian White, Peter Fraser, Andrew Rainbow, Lee Morcom and Heath Rainbow (snooker) plus Barry Glover and Bruce Lockley (billiards).

Pickett's a winner

Graeme Pickett showed a clean pair of heels to win the Northern Tasmanian Billiards and Snooker Association A grade snooker title.

Played at Launceston Workers Club on Saturday, Pickett went through his quarter- final, semi and final without dropping a frame, beating Devon Hills player Terry Adams 5-0 to claim the title. Full results from the day's play can be found at www.nteba.com.au.

THE NTEBA finals series for premier league, divisions 1, 2 and 3, starts this week.

They will lead in to the grand final at 6pm on Saturday, August 29, at the Launceston Workers Club with all players and supporters welcome.
