Baylis still State Champion

FORMER Launceston player Tracey Baylis has retained her Tasmanian women's snooker championship, defeating Southern teenager Emily Cowie 4-2 in the seven-frame final at the Launceston Works Club over the weekend.
Baylis, who now lives in Claremont, started slowly, losing her round robin match to Denzil McGifford 2-1.
However she qualified second in her group, and defeated Kylie Bellanger (NW) in the semi-final.
In the final Baylis looked beaten when trailed 2-0, before rallying to a hard-fought 4-2 win.
North's Debbie Rainbow finished third in her group behind McGifford and Baylis.

State Eightball team
THE open state team for 2011 was decided at the Launceston Workers Club on July 16 and 17 with 24 players from the North, South and North-West competing for nine positions to make up the 2011 state team to compete at the Australian Championships from October 17 to 28.
The weekend saw some old and new faces make the team, with Launceston player Andrew Saltmarsh making the team. Other North players were Troy Rudling (13th), Bruce Lockley (14th) and Alex Brooks (equal 16th).
The final team is: Anthony Adams (State Singles Champion), Justin Van Dipen (32 wins 14 Loses), Marcus Jackson 31-15, Trent Brooks 30-16, Andrew Saltmarsh 30-16, Andrew Triffitt 29-17, Dallas Nichols 28-18, Chris Forsyth 28-18, Joel Smith 27-19, Cale Barrett 26-20.

Interclub snooker
WORKS Black could only manage a draw against Works Gold, in last week's A Grade roster match, but it was enough to give it top of the ladder with the Devils going down 1-3 to Works Blue and the Raiders having the bye.
For the Blue team Peter Donati, John Stevenson and Rolf Stevenson were winners while Shane Franklin was the Devils only winner.
In the other match Launceston RSL Grey had its first win of the year, defeating Exeter Black 3-1.
Roydyn Bishop, Robin McEnnulty and Paul Zoon were all winners for RSL Grey and Derek Peart won for Exeter.

RESULTS: A Reserve Works Green d Amber 8-4, Dean Wilson and George Zammitt won 2-0. Launceston RSL White d Exeter RSL 7-5, Adrian White and Graeme Purdon won 2-0, Phil Stagg won for Exeter.
Green Horns dw Works Navy 6-6.
