WORKS Black teammates David Bates and Bruce Lockley are locked in a tense battle for this year's billiards roster consistency trophy.

As well as trying to keep their top-of-the-ladder team in first place heading into the finals, they are both on nine wins for the season with four matches remaining.

Bates achieved his nine wins from 11 matches, while Lockley has played 12. Dean Wilson and Rolf Stevenson are in third place with eight wins, followed by Glen Johansen, Steve Leary, Josh Rainbow, Derek peart and Wayne Purdon on seven wins.

Another milestone

this week was Blue team's Peter Donati reducing his handicap to under 100 points for the first time in his career. He is only the third player in recent times to reach that mark.

Works Blue continued its good late season form, beating Longford RSL 3-1 and moving off the bottom of the ladder.

Now just four points out of the top six, Blue plays Works Navy.

All other teams had a draw.

Only nine points separate second and ninth positions on the ladder with four weeks remaining.

Black looks certain to win the minor premiership, having already had its second round bye and leading by eight points over second placed Works Green.
