Longford RSL sinks Works Navy to underline roster dominance

LONGFORD RSL continues to lead the billiards roster, winning 3-1 against second-placed Works Navy. 

Wayne Purdon (245) beat Ray Skinner (275), Adrian White (150) beat Warren Hayes (280) and Graeme Purdon (325) beat Alan Legge (260).

For Navy, Phil Page (260) beat Greg Williams (270). 

Works Gold whitewashed last year's premier, Works Green, 4-0. Steve Leary (265) beat Dean Wilson (280), John Fraser (205) beat Dallas Fry, Rolf Stevenson (265) beat George Zammit (275) and John Stevenson (275) beat Glen Johansen (270). 

The Flaming Devils, after forfeiting one match, drew with Exeter RSL. Josh Rainbow (315) defeated Rex Swain (180) and Andrew Rainbow (275) beat Derek Peart (285). For Exeter RSL, Adam Bindoff (300) defeated Heath Rainbow (280). 

Works Red drew with Works Blue in their match on Thursday night. For Red, Alan Armitage (240) defeated Hans Georgeiff (270) and Barry Glover (260) beat Michael Bracey. For Blue, Graeme Pickett (-125) beat Keith Coomber (165) and Michael Leslie (230) beat Phil Rowbottom (275). 

Works Black had this week's bye.

The Australian eightball championships concluded in Adelaide on Thursday night.

Victoria won both the open and women's teams events, beating South Australia 17-9 in the open and ACT in the women's 13-6. 

Elise Mabbott (SA) won the women's singles final, beating Victorian Marg Gorski 9-4, and in the open singles Brenton Collier, of South Australia, beat Steve Mifsud, of Victoria, 10-8. 

The Masters singles was won by Russell Youlten (SA), beating Jim Rene (Vic) 8-5, and Victoria won the Masters teams final, beating South Australia 5-4.
